Local cooperative, originally created for farm rural telephone service. They got into the high speed grants under Obama. Pulled new fiber optic broadband cables everywhere. Super fast. Neighboring county has Frontier complete disaster, was like Cox Internet when I was in Virginia, absolutely atrocious. That is one thing to check before moving to a rural area. Now our cell phone service has lots of holes in it from all providers, but that I dont care about. I have a $10/ month flip phone for travel which is seldom.

(Why it is important)

Our coop electric company has just installed a fiber network in our neighborhood. Right now they are twice the cost per month (60 vs 30) as my ATT DSL line. The other fiber line is Spectrum which is 45/mo. I’m wondering if 5G wireless will be a competitor also?

They pulled fiber cable when they put in our phone/dsl but said don’t expect it to be operational for many years to come.

Thanks for the replies.
Badboo, that is great that they ran the fiber optics, out your way.
When we visit our family, at a remote ranch, it is a slow DSL.
Better than nothing, but...not like what we have at the house.
