Continuation of the thread.
I guess it depends on whether the tourists focused just on a few big cities or whether they were all over the countryside.
If (and of course I have no info either way) it was just a few big cities the Iranians could have quarantined the big cities and at least (largely) protected the rest of the country.

Confirmed cases of Covid-19, also known as coronavirus, in Germany skyrocketed on Saturday, reaching 795 by mid-day after over 100 new cases were confirmed.
That is the approach the Saudis are using right now.
They discovered one city on their east coast was getting a large number of cases from foreign tourists, so they just quarantined the whole city.
I posted the other day but don’t recall the link that Miami has had cancellations. Hotels have hired extra cleaners. Still be beach is full.

My dad, in an assisted living place in Florida, is wondering why they are not at least taking temps of visitors such as myself.
I guess Germany is not reporting deaths. I believe they have high population of seniors there.
Being a dictatorship has its benefits:
Maybe they have a waiting list.
A family member of ours in assisted living has been told NO visitors...and stay in apt...and they have no one sick...yet
Theyve done 1,500 tests in this country.
They do that many in Korea before their morning coffee break.
Double? My guess is 5,000 by the end of this week. 10,000 by the end of next week.
When you ignore the danger, dont do any preventative testing...this is what you get.
Shame on the CDC.
They will text each other all day while in the same room three feet from each other.
Heh. There are always apartments available. It ain’t cheap, though.
If they count the cruise ships I have no doubt it will double.
“Health leaders saying, We believe the virus is in the community, generally. From what we understand symptoms can be quite mild.”
As long as the other kids don’t have parents or grand parents, they’re probably right.
re: forced to follow - not true. There are international laws that prevent nations from cutting each other off except under certain conditions. So, rather than the govt doing it, the govt ‘encourages’ the airlines to do it for them. To get around said UN/WHO law.
Re: Italian travelers:
The thing is, if they’re ‘crashing at the ER’ then they’re not following the instructions they were given when they arrived - to call the ER first, and follow instructions, that every state, tv station and newspaper has published - if you come back from an infected area self-quarantine for 14 days. If you have symptoms CALL the ER don’t just plop down in the middle of the waiting room. But nooooooo
