Based on that, I would say now that the Lombardy health care system is not saturated, but overwhelmed. One step short of collapse. Italy needs to move on this yesterday

I am reviewing the numbers on Lombardy. I am beginning to believe my numbers are low, real low. I will see if I can talk to someone on Ham Radio this week to confirm the stuff I am reading online. The articles and twitter post are like a sci-fi movie..

The Worldometer that I just started using today is confirming your numbers.

I do think we have the same strain as Italy in the Southeast, we have a number of people infected when they visited Italy and return to the USA.

As far as our local heath system, the workers are very concern there.

Does South Korea have the same strain as Italy? I think South Korea has S and Italy has the L strain. I have not seen any articles talking about strains in either country. L was the deadly one in Wuhan.

And when that overwhelmed HCS collapses, that 10% becomes the floor.

The first of Western Australia’s specialist coronavirus clinics have opened in Perth, with more than 30 people queueing up outside Royal Perth Hospital’s Ainslie House before the clinic even opened its doors this morning.
Key points:

COVID clinics are open from today at three major Perth hospitals
Only people who meet certain criteria should present for testing
The Government may look to extend this to the regions as needed

Agreed. I’m surprised we haven’t yet heard Millennials refer to it as the Boomer bug.

Here we go again - 7th coronacruise

Cayman Islands cruise returns to the United States for cases of coronavirus
Monday, 09 March 2020 19:52

San Juan - The Caribbean Princess cruise ship decided on Monday not to let its passengers disembark on Grand Cayman Island, two of which, in serious condition, were evacuated and taken by air to Florida (USA), for fear of Covid 19.

Regarding the two “seriously ill” people it has not been detailed if they suffer from the disease, but the authorities indicated that they have been transferred to the United States via air ambulance.

In a statement, the director of the local Port Authority, Joseph Woods, warned that at the moment no one on board has symptoms of said coronavirus, but that the measure of not letting passengers down has been taken as a precaution.

The ship is now sailing back to Miami (Florida), according to local media.

Huh....a ‘major Sydney hospital is being forced to move some surgeries to its private partner as it prepares for an expected influx of coronavirus patients’ for ‘just the flu’?

This is very telling.

Hopefully, this measure works out well, for this major Sydney hospital. Praying so.

Dedicated COVID-19 hospitals sounds like a sound idea. I just wonder how workable it would be.

Some dude here refused to believe me when I said there would be a third cruise ship nightmare before the end of the month.

It’s not hard to see there might even be two or three or four more..but on that..I make no prediction

The patient is a woman in her 50s who has had no contact with schoolchildren and is currently self-quarantined at home and in good condition.

Gov. Larry Hogan said the woman contracted the virus during out-of-state travel, making it the first case in the state in which international travel wasn’t involved

“However, the CDC says that masks are not effective in any way (as well as a whole bunch of other “reasons” I shouldn’t protect you and you shouldn’t protect me. :-(”

Well, if we had the masks, everybody should be wearing them all the time. But we don’t have the masks because a lot of them aren’t made here and the countries that do make them banned exports, reserving them for their domestic needs.

So reserving the masks to health care workers, since they are the ones who are most frequently exposed to everything and therefore the most likely vector for people in the hospital to catch anything makes sense. You hose down the hotspots.

Were it up to me I’d have everybody in masks when in public, no exceptions. To do that, we’d have to have the masks.
