Have any of you heard about this? This past October, our world health leaders met, simulated, and worked on how to work thru a world wide Pandemic from a novel Corona Virus. In October 2019, the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security hosted a pandemic tabletop exercise called Event 201 with partners, the World Economic Forum and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Recently, the Center for Health Security has received questions about whether that pandemic exercise predicted the current novel coronavirus outbreak in China. To be clear, the Center for Health Security and partners did not make a prediction during our tabletop exercise. For the scenario, we modeled a fictional coronavirus pandemic, but we explicitly stated that it was not a prediction. Instead, the exercise served to highlight preparedness and response challenges that would likely arise in a very severe pandemic. We are not now predicting that the nCoV-2019 outbreak will kill 65 million people. Although our tabletop exercise included a mock novel coronavirus, the inputs we used for modeling the potential impact of that fictional virus are not similar to nCoV-2019.”
And now a facility in Issaquah as well: "A resident at Issaquah Nursing & Rehabilitation Center has tested positive for COVID-19 and the skilled-nursing facility has been quarantined."

Some of these caregiving people have more than one job I am betting that a person working in possibly 2 or 3 of these facilities is spreading it and themselves may be asymptomatic don’t even know they are carrying the virus around!! Not a whole lot you can do u Dem these circumstances EXCEPT test every damn care worker in these assisted living facilities!! The elderly are really at risk the people caring for them ALL need to be tested to protect the elderly!!!

So how many restaurant employees did they infect who infected other customers.
That is a very busy part of Boston, lots of tourists and locals.
This is a mega-disaster for the city, and the second and third order contacts will be traveling all over the country and parts of the world.

Table top exercises happen all the time.
We did three or four a year. Stuff like fires, active shooters, mass casualty events are pretty common.
Pandemic stuff at a larger level are more likely to happen at the CDC/National Level.

Yes, a mess indeed. Probably someone who was asymptomatic went to visit someone at the Issaquah facility.

I hope not. Latest numbers for South Korea are 6,593 cases, 177 of which have resolved. Of those which have resolved, 42 have died. That's a Case Fatality Rate over the course of the disease of 24% (Don't count those who have not resolved because you don't know how they're going to resolve).

Gov. Larry Hogan said all three Maryland patients were from an Egyptian cruise ship that traveled the Nile, and are linked to six cases in Texas.

I think you need to divide the dead by the number of cases (not the dead by the recovered rate).
Those death numbers would be wonderful if true for all countries.
