Flu always dehydrates you. Some strains worse than others.

I read yesterday that if you drink lots of fluids throughout the day it increases the chance of washing the virus (if you ingested it)down into the stomach where stomach acid will kill it; rather than it getting into the lungs. Don't know if this is correct but it was a "health care professional" who was saying it.

Flu dehydrates pretty quickly. I had it earlier this week and I dehydrated in a big hurry. I couldn't believe how quickly it happened.

The electrolytes in Gatorade help rehydration. Gatorade by itself contains sodium which you don't really want when you're trying to rehydrate. I often dilute Gatorade 1:1 with water.

Also best to use sugar free Gatorade since upset stomach's don't tolerate sugar very well.
