Here's what WHO said at their last briefing:

Recommendations for international traffic

"WHO continues to advise against the application of travel or trade restrictions to countries experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks.

In general, evidence shows that restricting the movement of people and goods during public health emergencies is ineffective in most situations and may divert resources from other interventions. Furthermore, restrictions may interrupt needed aid and technical support, may disrupt businesses, and may have negative social and economic effects on the affected countries. However, in certain circumstances, measures that restrict the movement of people may prove temporarily useful, such as in settings with few international connections and limited response capacities."

italy may be a function of early contamination of hospitals.

or this is actually more fatal overall than alphabets have led us to believe. Unfortunately that is entirely possible, I would think. They would say the same things publicly no matter what.

do you have any insight into whether the same concept applies if this virus becomes an annual (or more frequent) disease?

President of Univ of TX at San Antonio statement - “This morning, I contacted all UTSA students, trainees, staff and faculty currently overseas to notify them about requirements for health assessments to further ascertain they are symptom free before traveling home. I also informed them about requirements for self-isolation off-campus for 14 days before returning to school or work. All of our 70 students, faculty and staff being recalled from Italy were assessed prior to their departure, and all are asymptomatic. We are working closely with them to make arrangements for their 14-day self-isolation requirement upon their return to the United States.”

My understanding is the sars vaccine problem, at least in animal models, was well-documented. somewhere I have seen multiple NIH citations on it.

Thank, I thought about just putting alcohol in a spray bottle but wasn’t sure if that would be too harsh.

Well, if you can get businesses and schools to shut down, it will be easier for people to do the same. Also, if people can have a 2 week reprieve on utility and mortgage bills, that could make it easier. I think most people will do the right thing. No one wants to get sick. It won’t stop it, because some people are stupid, but it might make it more manageable for healthcare.

I’m just brainstorming here, obviously I haven’t thought through the logistics. That’s what state government and health agencies should have been doing.

*** My oven has a warm. setting ***

Electric oven at my Mom’s gets to 180°F w/ only the oven light on. I think Carlo3B told me years ago, that 180° was the lowest “good” setting for cooking meat low & slow.

Interesting read on China getting food to people. Farm to table, make that to gas station. Vending machines with coffee, hand sanitizer, milk and yogurt.

Watch out for the wife when the milk man comes around.
