And that any mask can be of benefit!
I think the last paragraph is interesting...where it talks about lowering the viral load to build immunity with a homemade mask?
There’s a tipping point for all masks as well. Notice that the surgical mask can be 80% effective or not.

The first patient was diagnosed on Friday while two other patients were confirmed during the weekend. All three patients had spent time on holiday in northern Italy, authorities said.
Soon, every sniffle and sneeze is going to send people spiraling.
I went to a doctor who came out of the restroom tucking it in and wanted to give me a shot without washing his hands.

A male student has the virus and is being treated in a Dublin hospital with infection-control measures.
The National Public Health Emergency Team said that a risk assessment determined that “all pupils and teachers are being treated as close contacts of the confirmed case”.
A woman from Northern Ireland was diagnosed with the virus on Thursday.
Two days later the first case of the coronavirus was confirmed in the Republic of Ireland.
Both had travelled home from an affected area in Italy.

The Asians, sans China, are amazing.
Yep. All about the $$$$, for lib Austin.
Houston cancelled one of its largest energy convention conferences.
I posted a couple of dates ago, the time to prep was weeks ago. Only things left to do should be making sure those 90 day Rx orders are in/about to be in.
Yes, that caught my eye. Not sure I would be good at making a homemade mask, but necessity causes a lot of preconceived notions to be re-thought.
Per HLN - American Airlines waiving fees to passengers who cancel flights to Italy and other CV places. American was the first to cancel flights to Italy. Waiting to see if United, etc. also will waive fees.
Walmart and CVS limiting purchases of hand sanitizers in store and online.
The drive thru test tent in SK is doing 400 tests per day. Heck, that’s how many the US has done, period.
Surely one of his advisor is suggesting that this is not the best kind of messaging under the circumstances. He needs to be somber and factual about what is happening and what steps are being taken. The stopping of flights maybe bought a week, just until they started connecting through other countries.
It is also clear that home-made masks such as teacloths may still confer a significant degree of protection, albeit less strong than surgical masks or FFP2 masks. Home made masks however would not suffer from limited supplies, and would not need additional resources to provide at large scale. Home made masks, and to a lesser degree surgical masks, are unlikely to confer much protection against transmission of small particles like droplet nuclei, but as the reproduction number of influenza may not be very high [14] a small reduction in transmissibility of the virus may be sufficient for reducing the reproduction number to a value smaller than 1 and thus extinguishing the epidemic
Translation - better than nothing. We don't own any tea cloths. I would think something with a high thread count and/or thick or multiple layers would make a difference. Especially multiple layers or pleated to create multiple layers would be decent. Just need a sewing pattern.
NETHERLANDS
8 new patients were reported , brings the total number of positive tests to 18
As of Monday 2 March, 8 new patients were reported to the RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment. This brings the total number of positive tests to 18 in the Netherlands. Almost all new persons diagnosed with the new corona virus are people who have been to northern Italy or are family contacts of a previous patient. If the source of the patient’s infection is still unknown, this is also sorted out.

I think we ought to find or come up with a design, sewing pattern.
