Jeez. We are two weeks into this. You would think they would have gone over the rules a few times by now.

Rhode Island
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) A second person who returned to Rhode Island from a trip to Europe tested positive for the new coronavirus Sunday, and a third person from the trip is undergoing tests, health officials said hours after declaring the states first case.
A man in his 40s contracted the virus after traveling to Italy in mid-February, prompting dozens of people to be self-quarantined and the Catholic High School that organized the trip to close while its being sanitized, the Rhode Island Department of Health said in a statement.
Hours later, the state Department of Health released another statement saying that a teenage girl from the trip had tested positive, and a third person, a woman in her 30s, is undergoing tests.

Oddly detached in DC from the real world.

There’s more to it than that.
Though I admit I haven’t proved my point-yet.

They need to expand this plan for all overseas travels coming here .
Stop all flights from Korea and Italy.
We have new infected now thanks to those locations .
Why did DC wait this long ?

More to it then that? Lol
Very simple. Enough heat for enough time is expected to deactivate a certain percentage of virions. And don’t do a linear extrapolation of temperature downward. It doesn’t work like that.

"65% centigrade is about 150 in real units... Not as good as Id like, but supporting info."
It all depends on how your air is heated. Gas central air should do a good job. Electric central heat will depend on how hot it heats the air. Central heat will also depend on how long it takes to circulate all the air in a structure. open air heating like wood stoves and gas space heaters will be more problematic.

“Why did DC wait this long ?”
Because markets and money.
On a truly grand scale.
The economic hit in a worldwide market panic would likely do more damage than the contagion.
Unless you’re one of the dead.

No, it’s exponential.
I’m looking and just can’t find studies at the high temps and brief times of heating chambers, baseboards, or radiators.
Maybe tomorrow.

Yes , China let its infected flee the country to spread this virus far and wide and it worked.
The CCP kept WHO out while there plan to spread the misery was implemented . Is Who even there now?
I have no doubt The CCP did this on purpose .

Two hours at 150F.
Which is too slow for home heating.
But your oven set on “warm”/170F for an hour would likely do just fine.
Along with 1/2 cup household bleach per gallon of water for clean surfaces that will tolerate it.

Laws of thermodynamics aren’t going to let most average-insulated houses in my zone get much above 90°F, with outside temp at 40.

I think you are right .
Its a ugly scenario to think the DC crowd calculated deaths vs Stock price.
It will get ugly now that the CDC virus test stalling has stopped .

If the water-treatment plant employees get sick, or stay home for fear of the virus, look out. Not likely but possible.

The benefit comes from the high temp in the heating area, not that of the whole house LOL!
I may have a study to refer to soon, look out!
I think most understand the cold China areas made things worse- or better from the virus’s point of view.

My mother in a retirement home kept setting her thermostats at the max (two through-the-wall heat pumps in a 2 bedroom apartment), and it did end up around 90F, but there was only one exterior wall. Electric resistance heating would push it higher but not that much, because the heating capacity is sized for normal heating demand.

Of course the whole home does not reach that temp- how stupid, or just argumentative, would someone have to be to say that? The mind boggles- its only reached in the heating chamber, baseboard or radiator heater. Sadly, it bears repeating.
