The Iranians I met in college believed in magic. It was like talking to someone who was younger than seven. They believed, for example, if they said something that it became true, despite all the evidence to the contrary. If they told you a lie they would stick to it, regardless of whether you could show them it was a lie. It was one of the most important things I learned in college. All cultures ARE NOT alike.

After reading news stories about the Corona virus in Iran, I have concluded that for every medical problem that country has, the mullahs offer and practice a solution that is wrong, even for those of us who have not had any medical training.

It looks like in Iran, those days are back.
