“Right? I cant find enough good animal proteins that are prep worthy. However, if its just illness quarantine, you still can have a freezer full of beef. Wish we could have fresh eggs though.”
Yep, I wound up buying an extra chest freezer just for the fun of Coronavirus (storing meat), and a medium-sized generator to run it, although I agree, if we get there...then things are really, really, bad! The nice thing is that they use so little power that you can run them for weeks on 5 gallons of gasoline.

We have been thinking about picking up a freezer chest for a year now. We often overfill our regular freezer when we see meat on sale. This might be a reason for me to purchase one finally.
It’d be a lot cheaper and less worry to can your protein. What happens when the gas runs out.
I just froze several doz eggs (scrambled...good for baking, eating, etc).
And, I recently pressure canned 12 qts of beef stew.
Just bought a 7 cf freezer from wally world. It was something we were planning on getting this year anyway but I figured I better get it now while they still have them because they’re not rolling out of the factory doors right now. Once wally world’s stock is out, there won’t be any more for a while.
I want a generator. The ideal one would run on natural gas or propane from a tank in the yard. My primary misgivings are the noise that the device produces becomes a magnet for hungry people who didn't prepare to take your provisions. Refrigeration is the top candidate for the generated power.
Powdered whey protein, bars and shakes fill the protein void adequately without need of cooking or refrigeration. Water is a necessary adjunct to those sources.
