POPE Francis cancelled events for the second day in a row today after falling ill.
The Vatican said the 83-year-old pontiff had decided not to go ahead with official audiences after he skipped a church service yesterday.
It comes as Italy is reeling from a worsening coronavirus outbreak which has so infected more than 500 people and caused 17 deaths.
The Vatican declined to say whether the Pope will be tested for the virus.

He was kissing babies yesterday. How considerate of him./s
Maybe he should pray?
God works in mysterious ways.
I think I have read that the infection period is as short as two days, now out to maybe 28 or more days, can be re-caught, etc. This is very dangerous. And for an 83 year old, could be deadly.
He may have caught the flu or a nasty cold.
But, if by some odd chance he’s gotten the virus, how would the Vatican handle it I wonder?

Good thing we have a spare pope waiting in the wings
“Can Benedict come out of retirement?”
I was wondering that too
Perhaps like they are now. Not admitting that he was tested. Not admitting the results.
It defies common sense to think they wouldn’t test him given the outbreak. However, these tests seem to be really unreliable.
As a matter of precaution, if you are sick it is wise for an old man to cancel engagements.
At the very least, you are not spreading a nasty cold
Famine, pestilence and the sword.....
I thought when he “retired” so suddenly that he was at dead’s door. Now, years later, he’s still around. I guess a coup and maybe he could reclaim his pope-ship?
Pedo-Pope prognosis particularly pessimistic?
Might be a good type for him to convert to Christianity.
Imagining big time!
Take him home, Lord. He’s done about all that he can do on this earth.
I say nothink! Nooooothink!
Maybe he could call for audience with Harry & Meghan?
Why let a virus go to waste.
Not sayin’ a word.
Harry bought all the tickets in first class for his train trip. Seems odd. Perhaps worried about the virus.
