Oh I sure hope these threads don’t get pulled, I spend several hours a day researching and posting all the news on these threads on top of my regular work. It honestly is the only place I know of online to be able to freely talk about the virus, Facebook and Twitter are heavily censored now.
So here’s my theory on all this.
It appears for most people COVID-19 is like a mild cold or flu, that’s it. For some however it gets very serious, but it’s a small portion that it effect this way. There’s no need talking %’s because we won’t know for a year what the % is.
The CDC is doing almost no testing whatsoever, nearly none compared to most nations. You have to be deathly ill and still have bat-wing crumbs in your mustache to get tested. They also won’t let anyone else test, results take 5 to 7 days. But why?
Here’s why. COVID-19 isn’t very serious at all for almost everyone that is going to get it. However, unlike what we are used to each year during the cold/flu season for some individuals it goes hyper and straight for the lungs, it’s serious for them, very.
The CDC and sadly probably President Trump know that COVID-19 is already circulating widely in the US. It cannot be stopped, to attempt to do so would start a mass panic. I think there thinking is we are in better health, have better hospitals, and might night be as susceptible to the more serious lung issues as the Chinese for a whole host of reasons.
To simply announce daily how many new COVID-19 we have would accomplish nothing, nothing good anyway. Therefore, we don’t test. The very sick will show up at the hospitals and be helped.
If the US can come out of this stronger than most other nations we will rebuild internally and with Trump has President we’ll begin to end our reliance on China and other nations for critical needs. This might be a wise strategy though it will anger many when they find out our government knew all it along it was here, and big time.

CDC appears to have updated their criterion for testing. Now includes cases where “no source of exposure has been identified” and also travel histories from Iran, Italy, Japan, and South Korea (along with China). Site was updated yesterday.

This is the calmest, most reasonable thread around.
A daily thread is a good size.
Since VP Pence took over:
Testing is taking priority
Tests are fixed and ready to ship
Debbie Birx is put in charge, and has an impressive resume
And protocols are where they should be.
There is still a lot of catching up to do. It drives me nuts that liberals are making fun of “anti-science” Pence on Twitter when it appears he has done more in ONE DAY than the CDC has done in a month.
I made the joke, “we have gone from fomenting hysteria to being never trumpers” as a joke in the Body content.

I often wonder where the class of ‘98 went. There used to be humor,intelligence and a sense of camaraderie on this site. Poor moderation and old age is killing it.
