Here in San Diego, we don’t really have hot or cold, and not much rain. I really should get a garden growing, but have a serious “brown thumb”...

According to Bloomberg anyone can grow food. You dig a hole, drop a seed in, put some water on it and boom, you’ve got food

Practice practice practice. I can’t tell you how many things died before I figured some stuff out LOL.
And there are LOTS of utube vids, blogs and etc with lots of really great ideas.

One idea is to get several packets of seeds so you have some backup. Im not a great gardener, but things that I can usually get to grow are green beans, tomatoes and collards.

Before moving to Idaho in 2000, I had lived in Chula Vista from 1963 to 1983, then Mira Mesa (1983 to 2001). I did some minor gardening, but there definitely is a "growing season". March to late September is optimal. The soil in Mira Mesa was poor and I really didn't have inclination to purchase something better.
