Just bought a nice hunting knife. From a famous American company. Made in China baby. Get em while they still last.

Yup.

Made in China will be a rarity like ‘Made in Japan’ is on oooooold appliances and electronics from the 80’s.

Agreed. Some of these "blind faith" posters lack imagination. Ships go both ways.

Just a loss of pharmaceuticals should humble the most ardent "believers."

I'm amazed at the arrogance of interlopers on this recent thread.

I don't have the patience you and other have shown. These people are going to get others killed.

That is why Trump has to be out there in front. If not, he is gonna have a fight for reelection.

Nice to have a good climate for that. My point is no bugs. I’ve pulled rice out of my store that had bugs. You put it in a closet and it multiplies. It kills the eggs and any bugs and I got some room in the freezer. 3 new 20 pound bags went in three weeks ago.

IDK.
Look at my link in 154, this could work for China.
IF, if, it does they’ll be in good shape.

I note that it isn’t a system we could use.

*** How many of the folks buy ten of something with a coupon? ***

Lol, I love LaSierra Charro Beans. I went to stock up, having consumed nineteen cans of them over the past few months. Wow, an unexpected bonus, there were in-store coupons for buy one, get a can of refried beans free. I ended up with 20 cans for $10.80.

In Texas, we eat lots of beans, tamales, etc.

I read this somewhere - can’t remember where - that the US kit is somehow different than the ones used in most other countries.* If that is true, I would guess that the US version was intended to reduce the rather alarming number of false negatives in tests in China, etc., that I recall reading about a few weeks ago. (I can see that in the US’ legal and cultural environment, false negatives would be a huge problem when it comes to containing the virus.)

*If someone here has solid info on that, I’d sure like to see it.

It was mentioned here on FR that even B4 this issue with the US test kits came up, test kits elsewhere were in short supply. The South Koreans came up with whatever they are using, fast, but is there still a shortage overall?

Not having allowed for this sort of thing is not an excuse. It’s just unacceptable that we can’t test much of anything at this point. Heads should roll and public apology explaining clearly what the heck went wrong should be made. Otherwise, public mistrust of the CDC gains deserved traction - a possible disaster if this situation really gets bad, here.

If such disclosure is not made immediately (like, 7 a.m. tomorrow morning): C’mon, press! For once do your job and dig this out if need be. It may well be your own health at risk.

I think I read something similar early on too. Also, I read some kind of connection with Japan, they used the same source. Japan looks like they are having similar problems and people are complaining about the lack of testing.

“White rice, kept cool, dry, dark and free of bugs, lasts a very very long time.”

Thanks - I may find out too. I have some dating back over a decade. It certainly looks fine!

“He purchased junk food like corn flakes, soda and what looked to be cookies.”

In my case I purchased Fruit Loops rather than Corn Flakes. *Also have about 100 #10 cans professionally packed: miscellaneous dried products.

Let’s test my hypothesis and see how many take the bet.

No need for your "bet". If the coronavirus that is currently causing problems in China becomes widespread here there will be plenty of disruption, and sadly many lost lives.

Being aware, and prepared for a potential problem is a good thing, because it can help minimize suffering.

But we'll find out one way or another what happens over time. If the coronavirus becomes widespread in the USA we'll know, because unfortunately a number of posters on FR are likely to be victims of the disease.

So the "bet" will happen anyway, just in the opposite way to what you suggest.

“But we’ve had 3+ years of moving out of China.”

That helps, but I doubt most companies even realize their dependencies, even after ‘moving out of China’.

They build something in Vietnam, they use Indonesia and Thailand as suppliers and figure they’re good. But they’ll soon find Indonesia and Thailand very, very, often rely on China for at least some of their materials/components.

The good thing is that it will be front and center and the Deep State Globalists can literally DO NOTHING to stop it - simply because the boats are not moving and the factories remain closed...now more than 3 weeks past their New Year shutdown. They are about to be exposed for what they allowed to happen to this country...and that is a good thing, and I’m convinced that it will help Trump in November.

What I’ve read is that the nutritional content does unavoidably decline over time, but the dry, cool, clean rice is still perfectly edible, and you can make up the deficit with other food items or vitamin supplements you’ve stockpiled.

I got a long term supply of heartworm pills for my doggo today.

Told the vet tech to be sure & order more as they might have issues getting them in later on.

She hadn’t hear anything about supply chain or that stuff ‘made in china’ would be an issue.

Right. I didn’t notice.

I only meant to remind you that believers have solid reason not to worry about the corona virus or any other.

Wouldn’t mind, except we’re Keto (until forced into carbs).
