More people die from regular Flu here in the US than most people know, I have seen 16,000 annually as a typical number, especially among the aged population
The SARS vaccine nearly killed the recipients when they were actually exposed to coronaviruses later.
We never rolled it out here because of that.
They tried vaccination on SARS (another coronavirus).
They had to give it up because when they were doing the animal testing, they found that either re-infection, or subsequent infection with a *different* coronavirus, would make the immune system go nucking futz, with severe side effects up to and including death.
Some have suggested that such is why the death rate is so high in Wuhan.
