LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services said Saturday there are 325 people in the state who are being monitored for novel coronavirus, now known as COVID-19.
These individuals are classified as "medium risk" at this point, which means that are all residents who have been to mainland China in the past two weeks or they were passengers on a cruise ship with a confirmed COVID-19 case.
"These traveler referrals meet either the 'medium' or 'low' risk criteria for COVID-19 monitoring," said Lynn Sutfin with MDHHS.
Suftin said none of the individuals have been placed in a quarantine facility because the screening process found none of them were high risk. However, they are being asked to practice home quarantine as much as possible.
Local public health officials are also contacting the people daily for two weeks to check for any symptoms. They are monitoring the individuals health by checking: if they have a temperature, a cough or difficulty breathing. Once MDHHS receives a referral for someone who may have been exposed to coronavirus, they are they under the jurisdiction of a local health department.
The Michigan health department has already tested five people who met the CDC's criteria for coronavirus testing. All five results came back negative.

I have been to a few asian countries, and eating bats is just bat crazy!
“We’re not seeing community spread here in the United States yet, but it’s very possible, even likely, that it may eventually happen,” said Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. “Our goal continues to be slowing the introduction of the virus into the U.S. This buys us more time to prepare communities for more cases and possible sustained spread.”
Buys pharma time to come up with a vaccine to make $$$ on.

I cannot see them quarantining whole cities in America.
But...as a friend of mine who was in Hong Kong during SARS, we’re been very lucky so far.
325 people being monitored? Not good.
And my business is an adjunct to the travel industry too. I have clients coming home early and I think they had a wake-up call while in Vietnam for a wedding. Switched travel from Japan to Italy to now arriving home a week early. I got the email update from them overnight.
Americans don’t understand what is heading our way.
Another idiot. The goal should be to prevent the introduction of the virus into the US by all means possible.

Medium to low risk. I think the state legislature should use them as props to grandstand against a quarantine. Maybe, not just having them speak at a session, but be guests of honor at the legislators'Bring Out Your Deadbuffettrough?

So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Not even close.
The problem I am seeing with this virus is you can be reinfected by it. So, if someone is sick in the home with it, it becomes a death trap of reinfection.
I don’t know how the average homeowner would plausibly be able to disinfect the home enough?

Would they have to evacuate their home, fumigate, turn the heat up high and stay out X days for the virus to die inside?
