Why are the Networks are Backing Bloomberg and All his Ads?
self | Self

Posted on 02/23/2020 9:51:36 AM PST by DOC44

Think how much good could have been done with all the money Bloomberg and the democrats have wasted in all these Bloomberg ads. Of course the networks continue to back him to keep the goose alive in the race that lays the golden eggs. I don't know who the democrat party wants to be the nominee but it is not any of the ones on the debate stage now. Socialism, higher taxes, medicare for all, green new deal and the only one that can beat Trump are not things that many Americans like or will vote for.

There is a Bloomberg ad on right now on METV. It is totally catering to Blacks. Nothing but Blacks and him. Now it is off but pretty effective if you are Black.

They can’t refuse them per regulations. They have to accept the ads and charge at the lowest rate in the market.

I hadn’t watched MSNBC in _years_, but I did watch last night (actually early this morning ;-) ) to see their take on the Democratic race.

Some of the crazy lefties liked Bernie and thought he could win.

_That_ was _they_ called _diversity_ of opinion. ;-)

They are getting rich off Bloomberg (and Steyer). Plus, their ad buys raise the rates paid by everyone else. Win-Win.

They may have to eat it, and if they do they will lose the house.

But.

If they then arrange the biggest landslide in American history for trump they may be able to squash Bernie’s faction more or less permanently.

Tell me about it. Was watching TV the other night and got the “Trifecta” of disgusting political advertising. Or more like the Doomberg sandwich. First, we got the “I was just a poor boy whose daddy died” Doomberg ad, then along came the Pig Styer smugness ad, followed by another run of the previous Doomberg ad.

Here are TWO guys who are dropping megabucks into political ads and, if they are lucky, might collectively get 10-15% of the votes. The funny thing is, both are multi-BILLIONAIRES self-funding their own campaigns.

The takeaways I get from these ads? “I haven’t taken one dime of special interest money” and “When I become President, I want to spend, spend, spend to fix climate change”.

Well, of course, if you are self-funding, you aren’t taking money from special interests or anyone else. And, rather than spending hundreds of millions of dollars on advertising for your quixotic campaign, pour than money into doing something for your pet projects.

[While I don’t watch any news other than OAN, I get the impression that even those at MSNBC & CNN are critical of Sanders, because they do not believe he will be President Trump. ]

They report the inside baseball commentary of Democratic party elders, but equally breathlessly point out that the alphabet soup mafia and blacks and Hispanics are surging towards Sanders. Journos pretend to be Democratic party blue but are really Bolshevik Red in ideological inclination. They certainly miss no opportunity to whale on Bloomberg, who is the one man with the resources and ideological moderation to challenge Trump for the middle-of-the-road voter through which the road to presidential victory lies.

And that’s all to the good. Because if Sanders wins the nomination, the plutocrats of the Democratic party will sit this election out. They might even do a one-night stand with the GOP, to avoid taking major hits to their balance sheets from a Sanders administration. The moment Sanders is anointed the nominee, Democratic plutocrats’ worries shift from the purely notional and psychological damage (the kind a Sox fan might incur when his team loses) from a second Trump term, to the hundreds of billions of dollars they will pay in additional taxes - per year - during a first Sanders term.

Bloomberg said he’d back any Democrat candidate in a general election. But then he called Bernie Sanders a Communist to his face in a nationally televised debate.

When will honest journalists ask him if he’s willing to support a Communist for President of the United States?
