(The Russians "hacked" the election) This was not some elaborate, complicated espionage scheme. They hacked into some Democratic Party emails that contained pretty routine stuff, some of it embarrassing or uncomfortable, because I suspect that if any of us got our emails hacked into, there might be some things that we wouldn’t want suddenly appearing on the front page of a newspaper or a telecast, even if there wasn’t anything particularly illegal or controversial about it. And then it just took off.
And that concerns me. And it should concern all of us. But the truth of the matter is, is that everybody had the information. It was out there. And we handled it the way we should have.
Last point -- and the reason I’m going on here is because I know that you guys have a lot of questions about this, and I haven't addressed all of you directly about it. With respect to response, my principal goal leading up to the election was making sure that the election itself went off without a hitch, that it was not tarnished, and that it did not feed any sense in the public that somehow tampering had taken place with the actual process of voting. And we accomplished that.
That does not mean that we are not going to respond. It simply meant that we had a set of priorities leading up to the election that were of the utmost importance. Our goal continues to be to send a clear message to Russia or others not to do this to us, because we can do stuff to you.

I remember working the polls that night flanked by two democrat poll workers who went out of their way to poo poo ANYONE who said there was foreign meddling in the 2016 elections. They went into their “tin foil” hat stories regarding several conservative voters who would come in that they would target as being “crazy conspiracy theorists”
I’ll never forget the look on their faces at the end of the night when it showed our local upstate NY had gone completely Trump! That’s when all the stories about “medding” started to explode. They both shook their heads in disbelief!
The entire thing has always been a hoax. The idiot Republicans fell all over themselves to grant the Democrats’ premise that the Russians “interfered”, then drew a distinction that the President didn’t collude. There was nothing with which to collude. That was so stupid and so very, very GOPe. They hamstrung Trump’s first term with this hoax.
Woo hoo! I can hardly wait for President Trump’s tweets.

Everything that has been reported about Russian being the actor that hacked the DNC email server is based on the conjecture of one person, Dmitry Alperovich, the CTO for CrowdStrike. His opinion has been refuted by other IPSEC experts who question his conclusions based on his own published report. No independent law enforcement agency has ever seen or analyzed the DNC servers and the Microsoft Exchange email server was found to show no evidence of hacking thus undermining the central notion that the emails were transfered by Russian state actors. This is a classic case of groupthink pushing the big lie often enough that it becomes truth.

I can never figure out exactly what the Russians are supposed to have done or are doing to influence the election. A few thousand in Facebook ads isn’t going to change an election. Sixty three million people voted for him because of what he said he would do, and because he did pretty much what he said he was going to do that many and more will probably vote for him again.
It was a few thousand dollars on facebook.
