A bakery in the western German city of Cologne has caused a storm in local media for its selling of dark-glazed pastries with exaggerated facial features.
Some of the pastries normally a kind of meringue on wafer covered in plain chocolate were sporting eyes, nose and thick red lips, with some even carrying bones on top of their heads or comical hats.
The white-faced pastries have glasses and carry on their heads what is known as a fez, a felt hat with a tassel that was popular during the Ottoman Empire.
The pastry, now known as Schokokuss (Chocolate Kiss) is popular in Germany, particularly during Carnival every February.
Formerly known as Mohrenkopf (Moorish head), the name of the pastry was altered because of its racialized reference to Muslim inhabitants across what is now Europe and North Africa during the Middle Ages.
The Cologne-based bakery features the treats in its display entitled Funny carnival heads.
This years supply has stirred debates on social media after author and columnist Jasmina Kuhnke, or Quattromilf as she is known on Twitter, posted a picture of the pastries after a friend sent her a photo.
Dear Café Konfiserie Fromme, your pastries disgust me! Kuhnke wrote, adding that, no, the white ones are not intended to represent balance, they represent North Africans.

These people haven't. You can buy these candies tonight in Spain.
I believe the Ghost of Hendrix is right handed... It’s true, it’s true.
It would be easier to just outlaw white. Which is what they seem to be doing..
WTH???
I know them as ‘Mohrenköpfe’ and they will always be ‘that’ for me.
You could buy them with dark or white chocolate glaze, or coconut flakes.
They were also called ‘Negerküsse’ ( Negro kisses), but the new PC name is Schaumküsse (Foam-kisses) now.
If there were just the white ones, what would the reaction be? This PC is driving me batty. Oops— bats are black. This PC is driving me mothy?
Knowing that the cafeteria on the corner would close at midnight, I told the GI that if he'd go get sandwiches for him and me, I'd buy them.
He left.
He came right back. Without the sandwiches.
"Were they closed?" I asked him.
"No," he said, "They wouldn't serve me because I'm black."
YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING AS MAD AS I WAS THEN!!!!!
The very next morning--FIRST THING--I had that cafeteria placed off-limits to all US military personnel!!!!!
A few days later, I was told that they cafeteria had changed its policy.
They’ve had those cookies since the 1980’s. They also have white and half white/black cookies. The people in Louisiana have the same cookies. Gambino’s, Haydel’s, and everyone else’s bakery makes them.
If these people are offended by German culture, then they should F off back to their own 3rd World shthole.
“Jerry: Oh look Elaine, the black and white cookie. I love the black and white. Two races of flavor living side by side. It’s a wonderful thing isn’t it?”
If they get rid of the black ones they’d then be accused of being racist and discriminatory. You can’t win for losing, so there is no point even trying when it comes to leftards. LOL
When I was serving in the Navy (1961-'64) and my ship was homeported in Norfolk, I had weekend liberty and caught a ride with a Petty Officer and a couple of shipmates to New Jersey to visit home. In Delaware we stopped at a small diner to grab a bite. The staff informed us that they would serve our black shipmate, but that he could not come inside and sit with us. We complained, and they threatened to call the police, which hassle we didn't need. We ended up eating in Jersey instead.
Mmmmm.... Chocolate...
hell, I remember eating at Sambo’s.
OMG I used to work at Sambos as a waitress when I was 19, I forgot all about that restaurant!! Could you even imagine even SAYING the word Sambo today!! The freedoms we have lost looking back is just beyond frightening!!! The kids today have no idea what the hell it is to live without a MASSIVE government nanny state!!!
are the white ones racist?
Good grief!
