Why? Why do they have to "represent" anything?

I didn't see Holland's last Spiderman movie. I'm done with Marvel Superhero Gay Movies.

Excellent point...

Aren’t these characters in costume, usually? Trying to blend in with us regular folks until the spam hits the fan and then they are are in costume.

What exactly is being represented then? That the way to blend in is by being a freak.
