The University of Virginia has specified that its new diversity-focused centers are open to everyone after a now-viral video showed a black woman complaining about too many white people being in the Multicultural Student Center.
The video purportedly shows a black woman delivering a public service announcement to the white people occupying the space.
Public Service Announcement! Excuse me, the woman says in the video, commanding the rooms attention. If yall didnt know, this is the MSC and frankly there are just too many white people in here and this is a space for people of color.
So just be really cognizant of the space that youre taking up because it does make some of us POCs uncomfortable when we see too many white people in here, she says in the video. Its only been open for four days and frankly there is a whole university for a lot of yall to be at and theres very few spaces for us. So keep that in mind. Thank you.
The womans speech ended with applause from some people in the room.(snip)
The university responded in a statement Wednesday saying the four new and expanded student centers in Newcomb Hall, which include an expanded LGBTQ center and new Latinx center, are inclusive and open to all students.
In order to foster the diversity of experience and ideas that make UVA a great and good place to study and work, these centers are open to all members of the University community, the statement said.

Notice not a single rebuke or repudiation of the person in question who basically claimed the building for black people.
Cool; where is the Whites only space?
Ah! Thanks; we used to call that place the library.
If a White kid had done that....

A “LGBTQ” center and a “Latinx” center are “inclusive and open to all students”??? I don’t think so.
That fat pig could feed an African village for a month or so.
Excuse me, I have a public service announcement:
If you have a big fat ass there is no room in the MSC for you! Please haul your big fat ass outside and make room for skinny people!!!
Thank you!
They way things are going, before too long, it seems everyone will want to bring back segregation.
Aint multiculturalism grand!
Did she declare the assembly unlawful ???
There goes the university, white-splaining things again.
Exactly. No statement that the woman “does not reflect the values of UVa”.
Didn't Lizzie Warren do something like that to get a faculty position?
In a few years they will be complaining that white people are racist because they don’t want to hang out at the multi cultural center.
Black people have special privileges in our society and that must stop. But remember what Voltaire once wrote: To find out who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.
This is our society today.

“I have a dream that one day in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, one day right here in Alabama little black boys and black girls will he able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.” - MLKJr
White people should begin to have sit-ins and sing “we shall overcome” in these places, not as a statement of white nationalism, but in honor of the dream of the ultimate civil rights activist in American history.
I’m not sure what a multi-cultural center is, but I’m guessing it is a place to learn about other cultures. As an old white guy, I’m always being told that I don’t, and CAN’T, identify with minorities. But a good place to start would be a multi-cultural center. One would think they would like others to know about their culture.
She’s got such a big mouth I wonder if the white kids who left thought she was some sort of authority figure. Seems she is in her own mind.
