The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Japan climbed to 203, local media reported on Wednesday.
According to Kyodo news agency, Japans Health Ministry said 40 more people — including a quarantine officer — have tested positive on a cruise ship, bringing the total number of infected people on the vessel to 174.
Around 3,700 passengers and crew from 56 countries and regions are on board the vessel — Diamond Princess — currently quarantined at a dock in Kanagawa province, south of the capital Tokyo.
The vessel was quarantined at the dock after a man disembarked in Hong Kong was found to have been infected with the virus.
The infected people on the ship include 21 Japanese, eight Americans, five Australians, five Canadians and one each from Argentina and the U.K.
The CDC knows all of this already and looks to have done nothing to prepare these folks. Typical government incompetence. That is the danger of putting your faith in it.
Twelve patients treated by two British GPs who have been diagnosed with coronavirus are being traced by health officials, the BBC understands.
Between them, the two doctors worked in four different places in East and West Sussex - a nursing home, an A&E department and two GP practices.
A British man linked to 11 cases of coronavirus has now left hospital and returned home.
NHS England said Steve Walsh posed “no risk to the public”.

35 in Hawaii under self-quarantine for coronavirus, 1 under mandatory quarantine
https://www.staradvertiser.com/2020/02/11/hawaii-news/36-individuals-in-hawaii-under-mandatory-quarantine-for-coronavirus/
The number of individuals in Hawaii under quarantine for the coronavirus jumped overnight to 36 35 under self-quarantine and a man who is being isolated on the base at Pearl Harbor.
State health officials said Monday they were monitoring 27 individuals, but that the number would be fluctuating as more travelers are funneled to Honolulu, one of 11 airports designated by the federal government to receive all flights to the U.S. from China.
A couple dozen more travelers who were in China within the 14-day transmission period have likely already passed through the state and onto other mainland states, where they will be required to be in self-quarantine for 14 days, said Lt. Gov. Josh Green, who is acting governor this week.
Yep. But in China they are killing those who violate quaratine. In the US you will be shot first by these roving bands of quaratine violaters. In a months time there could be thousands of refugees from the state of California. All potential super spreaders. They can check out but they can never leave. We may need to send a rescue team in for Jim. In China, they have yet to lift any quaratine order.
The quarantines in China seem to be only done to protect those outside the quarantine. Which is why they all failed. You at least have to make the quaratined feel as if there is a good chance they will survive.

Coronavirus still stumps experts on when human carrier turns infectious
Michael Osterholm, director of the Centre for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, said it was possible it could be transmitted by people before they become ill and there were striking parallels between Covid-19 and the flu virus, which can infect others during the incubation period.
The epidemiology screams flu virus-transmission, he said.
With Sars, the majority of transmission took place between four to six days of illness so patients could be identified in the first several days of infection and isolated, which slows down the transmission.
I think this virus does not act that way.

Brilliant deduction, Mr Osterholm!
