Billionaire activist and 2020 Democrat Tom Steyer pledged to push for a $22 minimum wage if he wins the White House in November.
Steyer made the pledge while campaigning in Winnsboro, South Carolina, on Sunday. His minimum wage standard is the highest so far of the Democratic presidential primary field.
The federal minimum wage has sat at $7.25 for the past decade. Washington, D.C., and 29 states have set higher standards, however.
Steyers wage floor is set much higher than what most politicians and activists are currently calling for. Former Vice President Joe Biden, former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts have all released plans calling for a $15 minimum wage.

Steyer proves that even a dummy can become successful & filthy rich in America.
At this point wage inflation would be a great thing. We are hurtling towards socialism on the horns of corporate greed. Anything to get people off their asses and make it worth it. People will leave the Democrat plantation. They will want lower taxes and partipate in the economy.
Why not a sex robot in every cubicle, office, and break room? Dont these people know how to pander and buy a vote?
When I go to places with minimum wage employees, I like to do a quick count of employees, multiply by 12 ($10 minimum wage in AZ + employers’ payments for FICA/Medicare/Workman’s comp/Unemp), and estimate how many customers are needed to make enough profit after overhead to pay them.
So, when I go to the Chick-Fil-A or In-N-Out during lunch hour, there might be 13 people working there, but hundreds of customers. Go down a notch to Wendy’s or Jack-In-Box, and the hundreds become a couple of dozen. At the full service car wash I went to today there were 7 or 8 but only a handful of cars to keep them busy. A lot of high-labor/low margin operations will simply go away if the wage goes up any more here in Phoenix.
$46,00 per year to flip burgers.
He’s also saying he’ll put a lot of people and businesses out of work.
“I would say $12.00/hr would be a good compromise that Republicans could go along with. Get this stupid issue off the table.”
The minimum wage does need to rise. The minimum wage I earned in 1978 is $14.25 hr on the cpu calculator
$11.50-12.00 would be ok.

Why 22 what not a nice round number like 25 these people are absurd!!! The government is paying census takers $19.00-$25.00 an hour it is a temporary job but GEEZE you take a months vacation and rack in some cash!!!
Wow, an astute political savvy Freeper. How unusual.
So who would do the work then?
Forget about it, Tom. Your candidacy is not rocking any boats, and has never done so. Tom has a face made for radio, and a speaking voice made for print.
I’m not saying this as though I was such an Oil Painting, because I’m certainly not one. I am saying that in today’s American Politics, it really helps if you are telegenic and/or have a speaking style that commands attention. Tom has neither.
Most satiates have already raised minimum wage to $15.00 all it has done is give the government more payroll taxes, raise the cost of goods everywhere AND put many small businesses out of business this has NOT helped workers in anyway they are paying more in taxes and paying more for every damn thing they buy!!!
why not 2,000,000 for one hour. that way we can all retire pretty early!
Work on any construction project that is state funded in Minneapolis and you will get $55.85 per hour.
That is for a common laborer.
About 20 years ago the rate was around 20 bucks an hour.

Really?
Raising the minimum wage to say $15.00/ hr would make inflation go up. A one time adjustment of maybe 1-2%. If that.
I read that as $22 million wage.
But seriously why stop at $22?
In the world of empty promises go big or go home.
I promise $50 an hour minimum wage plus a living wage of $3000 a month and a domestic robot in every house hold and a chicken in every pot, if I’m elected President!!!
$15 per hour already is decimating businesses in states.
If an unemployed kid from Alabama drove up there to apply for one of those jobs he would not get it.
