In ‘Parasite’s’ defense, it is a strongly crafted movie that is not mere art house fare but has mass appeal for young and old alike, with many average moviegoing Americans praising it.

Of the director, in 2013, Quentin Tarantino (a cult follower of Korean film) said: Bong Joon Ho is like Steven Spielberg in his prime.

I’m surprised Joaquin didn’t call us all Lying Dog Faced Milk Drinkers.

I did see it...streamed it...meh, it was mediocre and a bit over the top and obvious, even for a black comedy. A bit too trite for me. I thought at least four of the other nominated movies were far better.

I want to see 1917 but was it a mere technical achievement or did it truly capture the sort of...intellectual and spiritual dimensions of the war?

Parasite is a lot of fun. It does not demonize the wealthy. Everyone I know who son loved it.

Here's my review:

The movie Parasite was awful and clearly political with all it's symbolism. But then Hollywood has become practically Asian owned, and of course celebrity audience cheered and clapped because they know who signs their paychecks.

The Awards opening show looked like something you'd see on kids Saturday morning programming from start to finish and the other singing acts reminded us gone are the days of true musical talent.....

The red carpet ‘clothing’ failed miserably as most looked like they just stepped out of a 50’s circus tent, a far far cry from class or designer.

Joker's Phoenix made a complete fool of himself as he stumbled through his word salad from saving animals, to world resources and how terrible we are in this nation... even he didn't recognize what he was saying it was so bad.

Renee looked elegant until she opened her mouth... Pitt sounded as dumb as he likely is...and Fonda was her usual stern mommy mode standing in the wings.

I won't go on because that was enough for me to suffer through. It has been several years since I watched any Hollywood awards show and it's certainly become an event of unskilled, less then amateurs, pretending they're artists of their craft.

social justice.

It was heavily promoted as a potential historic moment.

doubt voters even watched it

6 times “best film” and “best foreign” got nominations in the past

11 times foreign language films got nominated

Joaquin couldn’t get even one sentence out of his mouth let alone get his thoughts together. What a lamebrain he is! Hollywood has always been a cesspool but these people have taken it to another level altogether......mindless!

His performance was that good because he didn’t have to prepare his own mind too much to be in that role.

1917 is a classic. I loved it!!

I didn't like Parasite. It is a commentary on class and of course, the poor are downtrodden and the ending is bizarre.

Agreed, but I thought Anthony Hopkins was amazing. I can’t say I was surprised how each one was depicted.

The poor came across as conniving and unpleasant. The wealthy couple was essentially decent.
