Gone are the days (1950s) when an actress won an Oscar and then went on to thank everyone from the director to the caterer, to the man who trimmed the hedges at home, sometimes taking 20-30 minutes of thanking everyone.

Yeah, I always look to actors who read the words other people wrote, act the way other people tell them to and are dependent upon other people doing the difficult and dangerous stunts to tell us how to live our lives.
I like Brad Pitt and was pretty disappointed with his dig at the impeachment hoax. The great Humphrey Bogart said it best (or at least it’s been attributed to him): “An actor’s job is to act. If you have a message, go to Western Union.”

I clicked on this thread, read the summary, and am typing this response simply to let everyone know that there is nothing in this world I could care less about than who writes Oscar speeches. But also, I will continue to see Pitt’s movies. It is important to separate the art from the artist, IMHO.
So, they are “acting” (reading scripted lines) even when they aren’t acting? Does someone write lines for them throughout their daily lives?
