We’ve activated the Emergency Operations Center and are working w/ local, state, and federal agencies to be ready to respond.
There have been rumors of a flight coming to SFO with diplomats from Chinathe latest news is that this flight is NOT coming to SFO.
This is an ongoing situation. If plans change we will be prepared to immediately inform the public and take every precaution to keep people safe.

Australian schools are taking extreme measures, including segregating Chinese students and banning pupils who have visited China over the summer from classes without a medical certificate to prevent an outbreak of #coronavirus

This is a good thing. More communities should be doing the same. Not to encourage dramatic panic, but rather to start getting the pieces in place. The plans to deal with an emergency take a while to get moving. Better to do thatknowing that when it happens (if it happens) they are prepared.
I guarantee you that these plans are being looked at closely for the first time in years. I am willing to bet that somewhere there is a manager looking at their plans saying, we replaced that [system, program, position] three years ago and never updated the plan.
Better to find out nowthan when this thing is breathing down your throat.
It won’t hold, the outcry will be too big, it’s more fair that everyone die (to the left anyway)
“. . .segregating Chinese students and banning pupils who have visited China over the summer from classes without a medical certificate . . .”
Wow. I just saw a report on a Romanian consumer protection governmental agency that submitted an intergovernmental request to stop the importation of a list of products from China that they fear could harbor the virus.
stop the importation of a list of products from China that they fear could harbor the virus.
but but but experts are saying any coronavirus can not live outside the host that long...a few minutes at most
I was hoping someone would say that. :-)
...that submitted an intergovernmental request to stop the importation of a list of products from China that they fear could harbor the virus.
Did they happen to post/mention the items, or type of items, on this list?
Purell. Wash hands. Wash fruit. Wear gloves. :o)
And goggles.
And a mask.
(or have kroger deliver it to your house and leave in an alcove for 4+ days hopefully in shade and skip the perishables this time)
:)
Now for a little levity:

Unreal.
How do they think these confirmed cases caught this, to begin with??
They mention HIPPA laws are in place to protect the stricken, and limit what can/cannot be said....what about releasing pertinent info to protect the general population?
Oh, yeah....I forgot. John Q Public has no right to know.
I was reading something similar.
If you are in an environment where there are lots of virus in the air the mask will not protect you. You need a full blown chem warfare mask or CDC type mask.
My mask is a particulate respirator with a seal. Which is a little better then a plain mast.
Also N95 only filters down to 0.3 microns, Coronavirus is 0.12.
Now wearing a mask does keep you from rubbing your mouth directly with your hands, that helps.
The mask can also decrease the chance of catching other infections that could be confuse for Cornavirus.
If I know the virus is near, I will wear my mask and pray for the best.
I’ve read articles saying basic hand sanitizers (Purell, etc) don’t protect against this (and some other bacteria and viruses).
