Chinese officials confirmed 471 known cases earlier today, adding another 2,197 people are in isolation after coming into contact with infected people.
So far 765 of those have been released from observation, Li Bin said, adding there is mounting evidence that the bug is being spread through “respiratory transmission”.
Li said: “Recently there has been a big change in the number of cases, which is related to our deepening our understanding of the disease, improving diagnostic methods and optimizing the distribution of diagnostic kits.”
Fifteen healthcare professionals are among those infected.

Never let a good crisis go to waste.
Man, this thing is starting to look serious. As in, Walking Dead serious. It’s mutating, it’s person-to-person communicable, and they don’t have a vaccine. It might not be today, but one of these days, some bug is gonna crop out out of the blue, and all hell will break loose.
Oh, good grief.
So, when the first of two persons died from AIDS when the common era strain was discovered, AIDS had a 50% lethality?!?
This is nothing but an attempt to fear monger.
Use well established protocols to reduce the spread (respiratory masks, screening for higher than normal temperatures, etc.).
Why can’t we just close China in early Fall and then open it back up in the Spring after all of these viruses that originate from there disappear?
That’s kinda how I look at it. :)
