Say what? Are the beepers shooting the bees who a slacking off? Are they over harvesting the almond honey, thus starving the bees of their honey? How is pollinating almond trees in orchards related to killing hives of bees who would naturally be pollinating almond trees anyway? Its in the bees interest to visit the blossoms to collect the nectar the trees produce to attract the various insects to spread their pollen to reproduce. The bees use it to feed themselves and their fellow hive mates. So, exactly how is doing this KILLING THEM?
This is so stupid it hurts.

"The bees use it to feed themselves and their fellow hive mates. So, exactly how is doing this KILLING THEM? "I've been wondering the same. The only answer I can come up with is that bees have a nut allergy or insecticide allergy.
Almond milk must be ruining someone's business.
Oh, and about the water issue... Which needs more water? almonds or pot plants?

They use pesticides that the bees ingest, which kills the bees.

Answering as a small time beekeeper.
My guess it would come down to couple of problems.
To many bees for the amount of pollen/Nectar available.
To much use of Insecticide in the fields.
