Microsoft To Replace (original) Edge With Its Chromium Browser This Wednesday (on Windows 10)

Microsoft is replacing its Edge browser with the updated, Chromium-based version on January 15. Windows 10 users will be automatically transitioned over.

From the linked article (https://www.inputmag.com/tech/microsoft-is-replacing-edge-with-its-new-chromium-browser-next-week):

We already knew this was coming because Microsoft announced the new Edge's launch date last month, but it wasn't clear that users would be pushed to the new version. Thankfully it will look mostly the same as the existing Edge browser, with all the same proprietary Microsoft features, except for a slightly more Chrome-esque look. Since the new Chromium Edge will be based off the same browser as Google Chrome, Edge will now support all the same extensions. Last month developers were invited to port their Chrome extensions over to the Microsoft Store, with the company saying that most extensions could be transferred over without any additional work. Edge is the default browser for all 900 million Windows 10 users, so there's obviously an incentive there to port extensions.

Brave is the browser that was founded by Brendan Eich. Eich is the guy who was forced out of Mozilla, because he donated $1,000 to California’s Proposition 8, which banned same sex marriage.

OMG!
I’m still using IE when I can. Edge too limited.
I avoid Chrome for privacy.
Is MS going to spy as much as Goocle Chrome?

Hostsman. Everyone should use it.

I could tell MS what kind of browser would be ideal (one that enables multiple tab rows, colorful tabs, adjustable size, a session manager that saves sessions, etc, all of which and more Firefox ESR provides for via extensions).

But the the only MS rep. that called me (many times) is the "Windows Technical Support department" from India.:non:

May it give glory to God.

Ok, it’s still Chromium based, but I can understand why he left Mozilla. I gave up Fagfox a long time ago.

Brave/Proud/Rainbow it all sounds too gay for me.

Almost the opposite. Brave was founder by a high ranking guy at Mozilla/Firefox who was kicked out for supporting true marriage.

Egads! How much memory do you have on your system to run Firefox like that?

I just switched from win 7 to 10. (only took 3 hours!) The Win 10 Edge browser didn’t save any of my passwords from IE. Pain in a$$. It did save the ones on chrome though. Ebay was the hardest one to regain which was never on Chrome.

32GB DR4, but with 5 browsers open and over 500 tabs (and 8 documents, etc.) over 20% is still left. On FF ESR 59.02 profile is mainly for forum threads, Quora, weather and relevant tabs, and another FF ESR profile is for shopping items (such as many parts I bought to fixing bikes, garden and hshld supplies), and another is for donations and checking phone and bank data and pages full of research data. And another (Basilisk ) is the default and Edge for single type searches.

Makes things much faster having them visible and handy. Praise the Lord for such help.

I know. But, you can still use Internet Explorer if you want. In the cortana search bar just type “ie” and hit Enter.

Since 2009, when I first started w/ Win-7 Pro x64, and Norton's various iterations, I've never had any security problems it couldn't intercept and handle, and now w/ MalwareBytes Premium added-in, it's still secure.

Browsers like Google & Microsoft censor the internet.
Chrome, Internet Explorer, Android censor.

Do you want to see the Whole Web or just their limited Tiny Web?

Man... They are going to force Google connections as forced proprietary now? Is it going to also hook to Google telemetry? How would we even know?

Lol, he is probably the most “custom bells and whistles” user I have met yet. :)

Open source. Microsoft would never have done it five years ago!
