“Columbus may have been telling the truth.”
Never doubted it for a minute.
An easier way to discover Columbus was correct, may have been achieved by simply trying to determine, what possibly would motivate him to create such a lie ?
Does this mean Columbus Day can be re-instated?
Science is so good. Eventually it fights through even PC.
It will probably be another 20 years or so before the gay community starts working to get American to accept cannibalism as a ‘lifestyle choice’. They have higher priorities right now.
The Karankawa Indians down on the Texas coast were cannibals. They were finally made extinct in the late 1800’s. They were attacking and eating people as late as the Civil War. Why would anyone think the Indians that met Columbus wouldn’t be cannibals?
None of this changes the fact that Columbus was a criminal who wound up in chains. He also never set foot in what is now the United States (sorry PR and USVI, you dont count). We should have Henry Hudson Day instead.
Columbus may have been right, but today we’re supposed to believe that Native Americans were all angelic lovers of harmony who were one with nature and never did anything wrong. Then Columbus showed up and opened a portal to Hell, through which a billion white devils emerged.
My hat is off to the scientist for changing his mind based on the evidence.
The thing the “scientific method” overlooks is the passionate commitment that most scientists have to their preconceptions.
The poor, innocent victimized peaceful indigenous people where conquered and turned into slaves, just watch apocalypto
Next scientists will say Global warming is a hoax or taxes will hurt the American economy...😋
Wait...I was always told the inhabitants of Caribbean islands were slaves brought from Africa by evil white Trump supporters.
Put those Columbus statues back up!
1. Why would Columbus lie about something like that? I can think of a couple of reasons as to shy he might want to cover-up the presence of a tribe practicing cannibalism but none for saying they were there when they weren’t.
2. I can think of numerous reasons why modern paleontology would want to pooh-pooh the idea of cannibalism being widespread in the caribbean, and it all has to do with the anti-western bias in today’s science.
Didn’t Elvis have some lyrics appropriate to this in his song “Surrender?”
“... all your love, so warm and tender...”
