Here’s a question for you memers.

If you take a photo off the internet, run it through a manipulation program so that it is artistically altered (say, converting to a guache rendering, or a “cubist-style painting), -then- turn it into a meme, is it substantially altered enough qualify for “parody” use without copyright infringement?

Photoshop has such options...

don’t know enough about it. I’ve stopped ( for now ) meme. (I just learned how “meme” is pronounced :) )

I just tried to make sure they were ok for FR.

That's a question for lawyers.

I just try to avoid the most anal of copyright holders (Getty, etc.). I don't think the media can get their arms around all the meme-makers and meme-sharers.

One thing I know you can do is take a photo of yourself or an object like a computer screen or TV and make it into a meme with out any repercussions.
