Re: Chinese students in the US.
I’ve worked with many Chinese grads of US schools. On classified projects. Whenever I expressed any concern about this, I was always told that they were even more loyal to the US than most Americans, because they were so grateful to have “escaped” from the oppressive Chinese regime/economy/lifestyle. But it always seemed very odd to me that having “escaped”, they would go back to visit.
I’m not saying that any particular person I worked with raised suspicion. Just that on the whole, the idea of having foreigners, many of whom had minimal English skills (so we’re not talking about kids who grew up here), working on classified projects did not seem like a great plan to me. And not just Chinese. Russians. Indians. Iranians. Koreans. Maybe a few others I can’t recall at the moment.
I personally liked the guys I worked with, so it wasn’t anything personal. It just did not seem like a secure situation.
With the exception of one guy from NZ, it seemed like the foreigners were never from allied countries.
