When dogs write cuneiform
~~~
Wouldn’t that be canine-iform?
Also, if doges did write, the claw scratching might look something like that... :o
I read once that there are estimated to be about 500,000 potential archaeological sites in Iraq; and that in the past 150 years, we have excavated 25,000 of them.
At this rate, we’ll never get to them all, so as far as I’m concerned, I don’t care if thieves grab the stuff, so long as it is made public later (and I don’t care how).
So: these tablets came from a city no one knows, looted in the night. And no one can figure out where that might be?
That sounds fishy.
So the museum was fined 3 million...by whom? Did they get to keep the tablets? seems like the inference is yes.
Could it be they saved these from being destroyed by some self hating fanatics? Just askin...
I'm glad Hobby Lobby's Steve Green bought these artifacts, which had already been looted and were floating around the black market -- else they'd have been dumped or used to build some classic hovel in some middle east hell-hole. Thanks Red Badger (topic and ping) and DannyTN (ping).
