This is the moment two Islamic Revolutionary Guard generals were killed in the US airstrike on Baghdad airport which also killed Quds commander Qassem Soleimani.
CCTV footage filmed close to the airport and shared by Iraqi TV station AhadTV shows a large explosion as one of the two cars was destroyed by precision missiles early on Friday morning.
Brigadier General Hussein Jafari Nia and Major-General Hadi Taremi were named among the dead by the semi-official Fars agency, along with Colonel of the Guards Shahroud Mozaffari Nia and Captain Waheed Zamanian.
Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy-commander of the Iraqi-based pro-Iran People's Mobilization Forces, was also among the dead - vaporized after being struck by one of four American guided missiles fired by a Reaper drone.
Mohammad al-Shibani, Muhandis's son-in-law, is also said to have died along with Heydar Ali, Muhammed Reza al-Jaberi and Hassan Abdul Hadi, all senior PMF figures.
A crowd of chanting and weeping mourners were later seen surrounding the coffin alleged to contain Soleimani's devastated corpse as it was carried out of the morgue in Baghdad.
In the face of Tehran vowing 'crushing revenge' and 'jihad' on America, President Donald Trump boasted on Friday that Soleimani should have been 'taken out many years ago,' accusing him of killing thousands of Americans and claiming the people of Iraq don't want to be 'dominated and controlled' by Iran.
'General Qassem Soleimani has killed or badly wounded thousands of Americans over an extended period of time, and was plotting to kill many more...but got caught! He was directly and indirectly responsible for the death of millions of people, including the recent large number of PROTESTERS killed in Iran itself,' the president tweeted.

When Soleimani was killed, the first thing Iran’s leaders did was say “holy crap” and change their underwear. They stopped communicating with each other, then quickly changed their cell phones, computers, got to work on digging their bunkers deeper, and made sure their money and mistresses were all well hidden.
Only after all of that is completed will they think about plotting a revenge attack.

Any terrorist attacks will give us the excuse we’ve been waiting for to thoroughly dismantle the Iranian military machine. Given that this machine is what has been keeping the mullahs in power despite major internal revolts, I’d think they’d be leery of Uncle Sam destroying it. But the US response to Iranian provocations has been so limp-wristed over the decades that I don’t really blame the mullahs for trying their luck.
The liberal media keeps going on about war, as if the only option open to Trump is an invasion. In reality, a super-sized version of the 80’s airstrikes on the Iranian navy are an option. But this time, with stealth aircraft and long range JDAM’s not available in the 80’s, the US could literally flatten every major Iranian military facility.
