There is still ham radio in California.

The recent announcement only impacted ham repeaters (normally for VHF and UHF communications) that were located on public land. The CA gov’t notified the owners, which are frequently radio clubs, that they want to start charging for the ‘space rental’ on state land.

Still a stupid idea since those repeaters support emergency communications when needed, but in no way ‘ends’ ham radio in CA.
