Is Anyone Else Alone on Christmas Eve?
From Skooz's Comfy Home | 12/24/2019 | Skooz

So, this has become an annual thread. Each year I hope to find that special someone and each year, around this time, I realize that I may have to wait another year.

But, I can't complain. Life is good. I made a sweet potato pie from scratch and will share it with the family tomorrow at our Christmas dinner. I'm 59 years-old and have been blessed to have spent every Christmas with my parents? How many people can say that?

But, tonight it's just me, George Bailey on Bluray, some beautiful sacred Christmas music on SiriusXM Holiday Pops and a nice bottle of red wine.

How about you? Anyone else solo this Christmas Eve?

Solo without a partner, but not alone. 4 kids and my mom. Celebrating Chanukah. Wishing everyone who is alone a warm and sweet And merry Christmas, and plenty of social interaction for 2020! Stay warm and happy and healthy. Being alone is still much better than being trapped in a loveless marriage. MUCH!

Not this Christmas Eve, but it's crossed my mind. This is the first year for a Christmas Eve with just me and my lovely bride.

Tops on Christmas Eve was 14 under this roof. Not sure if I want to do that again! At least, not as hosts.

Tomorrow morning six in one family are to arrive, two from another, and a single daughter. Four in another child's family will be "alone" out in the Permian Basin.

But, we oldsters are of an age now when each Christmas is increasingly likely to be the last one we spend together. After that, I am hopeful the survivor will not spend his (or her) remaining Christmas Eves without one of the extended family, though which one(s) is just a guess.

I've been divorced since 1979, raised my two sons alone, and have lived alone for many years now. I enjoy my solitude and tranquility. I've got to peel potatoes in a little while for dinner tomorrow, and will also make some chocolate chip cookies. I decided not to do my regular cut-out cookies or the candy cane cookies I usually make due to chronic back problems. My oldest son is coming in for dinner tomorrow, and will stay overnight. My youngest son lives in Indiana, and will be having Christmas dinner with his wife. I've been doing some reading this afternoon and evening. I usually have five books going at once, and the last one I'm reading from is titled "A Tudor Christmas" by Alison Weir and Siobhan Clarke. If I get a chance later in the evening, I'll watch the programs on my DVR, and work on my family tree. Tomorrow I'll be busy cooking a turkey breast, and a standing rib roast, plus making mac and cheese. I made the dressing today, and only have to put it in the oven tomorrow. I send most of the food home with my son so he doesn't have to cook the rest of the week.

I hope everyone has a Bigly Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Healthy MAGA New Year!!

Yes Skooz, I’m alone physically but do not feel alone at all.

A great comment I got from a movie recently was “Sadness is just being too ungrateful”. That was just the words I needed for my own lesson in humility while remembering lives and loves that have passed. We must rejoice in happiness for the blessings they gave us.

Life has been great and is great. Being alone is not a handicap or a sadness when we know life is good, and we are blessed just for what we have had.

I will like you bake tonight and have a Christmas day dinner with family and friends tomorrow.

My great plesure tonite? That I am home and not on the roads anxiously running down last minute Christmas presents as I did when I was young and never took enough time off work for anything.

G-d bless and keep you always Skooz.

Hope all of y’all on this thread have a wonderful Christmas!

I’m alone this evening watching Midsomer Murders and most likely will watch the traditional Christmas film Die Hard later. I made my family’s pre-1950’s recipe for buttermilk pie, and a midcentury vintage cheese ball recipe to take to cousins’ home tomorrow for Christmas.

The cousins are getting four bottles of wine from Trump vineyards from me. The pair of Dem voters in the family are definitely NOT!

Today customer said to me, “I’m the happiest f’ing homeless homosexual in St. Augustine, maybe the world!”
All I could say was, “Well you have the right attitude.”

After his purchase he followed up with, “I’m usually in here shop lifting.” With a big grin. He was happy!

My third year of solo Christmas. It hasn’t gotten any easier. I took a lot of comfort in the many memories that ran through my head earlier today. I was so lucky she graced my life for thirty nine years. I’ll visit her grave tomorrow before dinner with my daughter and grand kids.

Not alone but as many will relate, sometimes it ain’t all it’s cracked to be. I’ve n\been in both situations during my long life and have a great time in both situations as well as a bad time.
