So, this has become an annual thread. Each year I hope to find that special someone and each year, around this time, I realize that I may have to wait another year.
But, I can't complain. Life is good. I made a sweet potato pie from scratch and will share it with the family tomorrow at our Christmas dinner. I'm 59 years-old and have been blessed to have spent every Christmas with my parents? How many people can say that?
But, tonight it's just me, George Bailey on Bluray, some beautiful sacred Christmas music on SiriusXM Holiday Pops and a nice bottle of red wine.
How about you? Anyone else solo this Christmas Eve?

Our family moved to Maryland from Michigan 10 years ago. We go back every Christmas. Two of the kids moved back so we’re with them with one of our other adult kids.
Number four works at NASA and is on call this week. We’ve got a Skype appointment at 8am tomorrow morning to open gifts “together”

Miss all the ones who have passed on.
They made Christmas wonderful and when I think of them I am six again.

I am alone, kids are at my ex’s but will be back because they sleep here, I don’t mind it, but every year I hope to find a kind conservative male Trump supporter that loves dogs and thinks I am the cat’s pajamas. I thought I met one, but he was mean to my dog and no one gets to do that.

The whole movie is strange man, You definitely have to be in the “right frame of mind” to fully enjoy it. lol
I was definitely in the “right frame of mind” the first time I went to see it. :)
But the symbolism is strong...

First solo Christmas Eve for me after nearly 43 years. Really quiet tonight... while my wife was in the hospital our dog died, then my wife passed nearly two months later.
At least my daughter and her family are in the area so tomorrow I'm going to try cooking our traditional Christmas meal.

I never saw the movie or the play, but I wore the grooves off the album when I was a kid.
I think I memorized every word.

Now I’m tempted to buy a P. D. Q. Bach CD or two, except that every time I get CDs through the mail the cases are broken.

Your post hits so close to our situation you have no idea. My daughter and son-in-law take advantage of the conveniences you describe out of necessity. Their work follows them home way too often as they are on call when off duty. But that is the curse of the cell phone. As DIY'ers my wife and I taught them how to...they just don't have time. They did though always look forward to what Papa John and Gram Pam were going to bring over for the dinner table since it was going to outshine what was store bought. And yes every grand child is still the apple of my wife's eye and they know it. I think I'll compile a video montage to play for them tomorrow. There's years of footage from them growing up saved on this computer that I'll throw into a file to play for them. It will be topped off from my wife singing her
anthem .
Another reason I can relate to your post is I also worked in the grocery business for twenty years. God Bless you for this inspiration and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours. Thank You from the bottom of my heart.

Dear wife in hospital recovering from mild stroke. Will never take her for granted from this day forward. Making good progress, would appreciate your prayers for my Mary. No need to post, just do it. Events like this realign your perspective on what is important in one’s life. May God Bless you all on this Christmas Eve.
