So, this has become an annual thread. Each year I hope to find that special someone and each year, around this time, I realize that I may have to wait another year.
But, I can't complain. Life is good. I made a sweet potato pie from scratch and will share it with the family tomorrow at our Christmas dinner. I'm 59 years-old and have been blessed to have spent every Christmas with my parents? How many people can say that?
But, tonight it's just me, George Bailey on Bluray, some beautiful sacred Christmas music on SiriusXM Holiday Pops and a nice bottle of red wine.
How about you? Anyone else solo this Christmas Eve?
I had dinner out with my daughter and grand daughter but I’m back home alone. My wife of 55 years passed away in 2013 and my life changed forever.
I’m not alone, but still will be soon.
Just me and future MountainMom tonight.
It’s nice finally having someone here.
Also have the fat black lab and two wild Siberian Huskies ready for some snow!
Yup. N in hospital to boot. But tis okay
alone if you mean no other humans...I have my best friends with me. I have my three dogs...I value them as company more then most people so I don’t feel alone. Merry Christmas to anyone else who goes solo through the holidays.
It took me 20 years to get another dog
Wayyyy too long
Merry Christmas, everybody!
Die Hard is the only action hero Christmas movie worth watching. doing the same with my three dogs
I have lived in a large mansion with a contentious woman. Give me the corner of a roof over that any day.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
I’m spending Christmas eve with my 3 doggies.
Was all day in the hospital yesterday and not doing so well and feeling a bit lonely.
I DVR’d a few Christmas movies on TCM that I’m watching and enjoying this evening.
This is a poignant but insipiring thread and I applaud all here and their positive appreciation for life even if alone at Christmas
I think I will get my butt out of the tub where Im relaxing with a Christmas candle freeping and youtubing and go hang in the den with my family
We still have 3 of 5 at home and the rest will be here tomorrow nite
Ive lived life from being a kid in a huge extended family in the Deep South where forty degree Christmas was still extremely Christmas feeling to times in my adulthood with five kids and other family where its still a full house
I fed my horses some nice alfalfa and its a clear starry nite
The Rottweilers are chilling by the fire. The orange tabby outside on the windowsill waiting for a can of stinky food
I cant complain
Merry Christmas to all and Happy Chanukah to my Jewish compadres
God bless us everyone
God save the President and the Republic
Even thought I am dragging myself out of a sickbed I am looking forward to a glass of wine, a good Christmas movie, and some well-earned peace and quiet for the rest of the night.
Merry Christmas to you, Skooz.
Hope you feel better soon; and a couple of months ago I read a post of yours, I thought that there was a female FReeper that was out in Calif., kind of having a rough go of it, wasn’t sure if it was you or Onyx maybe. Anyhow, I decided to look at your (extensive) home page, and was surprised as he11, to see, a picture of, me.
P.S. Merry Christmas!
“Nips”
How Naughty!
Chuckles
Hang in there Sam, she will be there for you when the time comes, in the meantime, enjoy your daughter and granddaughter. Merry Christmas.
Wow, 20 years, that’s horrible. You are right, way too long.
It is a Powerful
Movie,
If you can get past
some of “Junk.”
My wife had to go to North Carolina a few days ago for a family emergency. Should be back by New Year’s, but in the meantime it’s just me and the cats. Not bad, actually. We’ll do Christmas when she returns.
Ouch.
The hospital is bad enough. I spent a few days there earlier this year.
But, on Christmas. I feel for you.
Nevertheless, merry Christmas.
Its all a state of mind. I can be among dozens of people during Christmas, but my heart always goes to years gone by of childhood memories, a family who is now all gone, and there will always be a void, sense of loneliness and knowing that nothing will ever be as it was no matter where we are or who we are with. We are all subject to loneliness during Christmas.
Merry Christmas and God bless.
