Out of pure curiosity I tuned into the Miss America 2.0 last night. Partly to see what this 2.0 stuff was all about and to confirm some of my thoughts.
I remember in the 70's and 80's before we had a million channels we use to look forward to watching the Miss America pageant and we'd cheer for Miss Kentucky or what ever state you were from. Back then it seemed that Miss Texas always won.
Let me inform you that the 2.0 is exactly what I thought it was. The 2.0 designates that the pageant has gone in a whole new "WOKE" direction. Which means that beauty, talent, and accomplishment doesn't count. Especially in the case of Miss Missouri. Ugh, Miss MO. was a chunk with no talent and no accomplishments. She was clearly an affirmative action, last seven finalist. But she did check a lot of "woke" boxes, mixed race, raised in a single mother house, dad ran off, and she was a "strong woman of color" even thought he mother was white, her black dead beat dad gets credit. A lot like obama.
The three judges/hosts who were asking questions asked the most "WOKE" questions. One black female host asked about "all those annoying boomers". Yes she actually said that and no one called her on it. The black gay guy was a one trick pony, in that every time he asked a question or opened his mouth had to do with LGBT politics. And of course most of the answers given by the contestants were about strong women or diversity or anything except boys or white, old people. None of the contestants disagreed with the premise of any of the questions.
Also in the past there was always an emphasis on America and Patriotism. But the little time that I watched I didn't see any patriotism.
The only exception that I saw to all of this wokeness was Miss Oklahoma who actually said that boys need to be encouraged to be leaders and supported. Miss OK and Miss GA were the prettiest and most talented. One of them should have won but didn't of course.
Besides being woke the new format stunk and the hosts/judges stunk as well. They weren't well spoken and they sounded like they were parroting democrat talking points. The whole thing was very boring.
It really doesn't matter who won because they've finally destroyed the Miss America pageant. It seems that "woke" actually does means you do go broke.

I attended Pepperdine Malibu when they filmed those so students we were up close and personal.
The actresses were hot and it got better when they wore those skin tight swimsuits to the Jacuzzi.
PS: Howard Cosell’s ‘complete off-camera vocabulary consisted of 90% curse words. And Robert Conrad is MUCH shorter than you would believe. But he was buff back then.
