So (digital forensics person here) Comey 159 times ans Corney 153 times. I checked the binary/hex level to see if it was an OCR error in the software >>> it was NOT. At the binary it IS different. Crazy!!!!!!


I have not verified this, but I have believed from the start that the Comey/Corney “mistake” was on purpose and NOT the result of an OCR error.

My reasoning: If this were an OCR error, it would happen with other words containing “m”. Furthermore, it is far more likely for an OCR error to change “rn” to “m” than the other way around. Lastly, an OCR error of this type would most likely be intermittent. It would happen when the pixels lined up in a particular way, but not when they happened to land slightly differently.

An OCR error that was so consistent seems highly unlikely to me. With today’s tech, I would find it highly dubious that the government would use a lame OCR scanner for such an important document.
