I don't believe it. If this were true you can jolly well bet Bill Clinton would have done it.

I must be bored tonight, I had to do some research to figure out the 9 justices at the time of Clinton’s impeachment. So I found a website that had the dates of their terms, and I believe these are them followed by the party of the president that appointed them:

John Paul Stevens R, Sandra Day O’Connor R, William Rehnquist R, Antonin Scalia R, Anthony Kennedy R, David Souter R, Clarence Thomas R, Ruth Bader Ginsburg D, Stephen Breyer D

So it was an overwhelmingly Republican-leaning Court. Could be why if this is actually true that the Supreme Court can extend an acquitted president’s term that had been impeached, the court at the time of Clinton’s impeachment would not have been willing to do so.
