President Trump cracked a joke about the impeachment effort against him during the annual White House pardoning of a Thanksgiving turkey.
Appearing outside the White House on Tuesday alongside two turkeys named Bread and Butter, Trump joked that the fowls had been subpoenaed by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff to appear as witnesses.
“Thankfully, Bread and Butter have been specially raised by the Jacksons to remain calm under any condition, which will be very important, because they’ve already received subpoenas to appear in Adam Schiff’s basement on Thursday,” Trump joked. “It’s true. Hundreds of people have."
“It seems the Democrats are accusing me of being too soft on Turkey,” Trump added. “But Bread and Butter, I should note that, unlike previous witnesses, you and I have actually met. It’s very unusual.”
He also used the opportunity to take a jab at the media.
“In any event, I expect this pardon will be a very popular one with the media,” Trump continued. “After all, turkeys are closely related to vultures. I don’t know if I like that line, but there’s a little truth to it.”
Trump praised the military and thanked them for their service. He went on to grant Butter the presidential pardon, but both of the birds will be spared from ending up on a table at Thanksgiving dinner.
I hope they all suffer and choke on their internal hatred.
I would love for once if a POTUS would eat the birds, just to watch the world turn upside down.
This seems very suspicious. Did Trump pardon the turkeys out of quid pro quo that they wouldn’t say what Trump had for Thanksgiving dinner last year?
I still believe President Trump’s election was a miracle. I will go to my grave believing that it was Divine intervention. Well that and tons of hard work and savvy politicking. The Lord helps those who help themselves, as Dr. Benjamin Franklin once said.
