“I...cant buy this.
If your marriage is going South, it seems to me that you have some clue, long before you receive an email shot.

You obviously haven’t been married to some real con-artists.
When I was introduced to a woman for some reason alarm bells LITERALLY went off in my head.
I’m not over imaginative or even relatively imaginative, so I totally discounted those bells.
Didn’t see my divorce coming at all.
First indication there was a problem? The night my soon-to-be-ex didn’t come home. The next day, I was asked to go the MP shack to pick up some paperwork.
Yep. The divorce paperwork.
And wouldn’t you know it, he was really smooth. Everyone thought I was the cause of the divorce...like I was the one who filed.
Boy were they in shock when just 10 freaking days after the divorce was granted they got married.
By then, only one set of friends would talk to us and that was because he told them he’d be the Best Man in their wedding. I recalled telling them when I saw them that they were being played for fools.
Sure enough, he never showed up in Colorado for the wedding. This bride was my best friend at the time.
Our friendship did survive; 42 years later and we’re still very close friends. She was so devastated when my ex offered to her fiancé to be their Best Man because she knew it meant I wouldn’t be there.
He played everyone for fools.
The interesting tidbit...? My ex cheated on the lady he married with the babysitter.
The first feeling was ‘yea!’ and then the second was pure misery for her in my heart because even though she’d cheated with him during our marriage, I didn’t want anyone to experience the shock I endured.
And she didn’t know about it till all hell broke loose, either.....
Like I said, he was real smooth.
Yeah, my ex ‘got hers’, meaning justice.
I never got any satisfaction from knowing that.
I’m very sorry that you experienced that.
But: 31 years of marriage, several children, and then she’s suddenly blindsided and didn’t *Know* that something was not right? Was she paying attention to her marriage?
This is a woman we were considering for Vice President - and possibly President, at some point.
I know some men can be very ‘smooth’, as you say. But the lack of awareness that we’re supposed to accept from this story, in a woman of the calibre that many of us believed, is kind of scary, to me.
There’s probably a whole lot more to the story.
“Boy were they in shock when just 10 freaking days after the divorce was granted they got married.”
10 days? Hell. mine got married BEFORE the divorce was settled. The day the judge dropped the hammer, they were at Niagara Falls.
My lawyer asked me what I wanted to do? I told him to inform her lawyer that we know all the details and that if she even so much as farts, we are coming after her.
She managed to make a few nasty calls after and I promptly had a restraining order slapped on her and her new hubby. Warned them that the law suit was being prepared.
They left me alone after that.
BTW. I managed to get her lawyer disbarred after.
He was in the process of purchasing her new hubbies house during the proceedings.
The nasty little prick is selling insurance now I understand.
I think there needs to be some unofficial rule on FR that, when Freepers tell stories such as yours, they have to preface the post with “I am a woman” or “I am a man”. The first read through made no sense at all because I thought you were a man.
