An arctic air mass that brought snow and ice to an area stretching from the Rocky Mountains to northern New England on Monday was poised to give way to record-breaking cold temperatures.
In Chicago, where as much as 6 inches (15 centimeters) of snow fell, an Envoy Air flight from Greensboro, North Carolina, slid off an icy runway at O’Hare International Airport as it tried to land at about 7:45 a.m. None of the 38 passengers and three crew members were injured, according to the city’s aviation department. And in Kansas, the highway patrol reported that a truck driving on the highway lost control on an icy road and slammed head-on into another truck, killing a juvenile in the other vehicle.
Snowfall totals could reach up to a foot or more in some areas of Indiana, Michigan and Vermont, according to the National Weather Service. Other places in the path of the air mass saw ice and rain. […]

Colorado, Denver metro area: 71 degrees yesterday, 14 degrees this morning.... still hasn’t warmed above freezing today. Tomorrow is supposed to be 58 degrees.
Figure that it will kill the bugs so I don’t complain.

You are right. It's going to be a cold winter, followed by a string of cold winters. The solar scientists have been predicting it for years now.

Deep freeze? Like we’ve never had cold weather in mid November here in New York State. These people are ridiculous, they act like it doesn’t get cold this time of year. We’ve had snow storms on Halloween, and on Mother’s Day.

Its interesting how when we had the heat of September, it was global warming at work. When we have deep winter in November, not a word about global cooling or detraction from global warming. Temperatures count for warming, not for any alternative.
Here in SE Idaho on the west side of the Rockies it’s pushing across the mountains some but we got walled off the worst cold so far. 40 for highs 20’s for lows. The mid west and north east are getting this crap right now. AlGore is probably on tour out there. They should take him and Greta and drop them in the Sahara.
