Keyes entered the election sometime in August because the original candidate, Jack Ryan dropped out due to sealed custody documents detailing his divorce getting out. The fix was the unsealing of the documents.
Keyes was never a serious contender because of his late entry and because many voters considered him a hypocrite. He had widely criticized Hillary Clinton for carpetbagging the Senate seat in NY, yet Keyes did the same in running for the Senate seat.
Yes, I knew all that. I still wish it would have been possible for Keyes to win. At least he gave it a hail mary. I didn’t see anyone else willing to step up.
The ILLINOIS REPUBLICAN PARTY did not support him. CONSERVATIVES did.

I like the things Keyes says, but I have never been impressed by his campaign strategies. Perhaps he’s not serious about winning.
