Seems abnormally low right now.

I’m hoping someone with expertise has a handle on how often the index is this low. Is the current level unusual?

We are at a low in the 11-year sunspot cycle; some think we are approaching a period similar to the Maunder minimum.

...also extended periods with low sunspots correlate well with large seismic events.
