Any Interest in a Fiber Arts Ping List? (Vanity)
It Was Qiviut's Idea! :) | October 29, 2019 | Diana in Wisconsin

Posted on 10/29/2019 12:05:41 PM PDT by Diana in Wisconsin

Is there any interest in a separate 'Fiber Arts' thread on FR? It would probably be a monthly thread, and we'd post to it all month, share our projects, yarn/fabric recommendations, etc., as we do weekly for the Garden Thread.

We're finding a lot of over-lap between the Gardening Thread and the Cooking Thread and a few other General/Chat threads posted from time to time. Those of us that like to garden and cook seem to like to sew and craft and knit and crochet, too.

Any takers? Ping me here, or send me (Diana in Wisconsin) a message if you'd care to join us. It'll take a few weeks to get it organized, appoint a Dictator/Moderator For Life, etc. ;)

But first, we'd like to know if there is enough interest to give it a trial run.

Thanks!

DANDELIONS AND FRIED JUNE BUGS!

Actually watched a Bizarre foods show and the folks said fried june bugs were delicious- not sure I’d try them- maybe-

Um, No. LOL!

But if you run it, I’ll chime in of course! People think I’m weird for the amount of wild game we eat.

I don’t think it’s weird. Is it weird? Maybe it’s weird? ;)

I think it sounds interesting. Please put me on your ping list if you decide to do it. Thanks!

It might get a slow start, but I hope there is some interest out there. Lots of good stuff & ideas to share, projects to talk about and it’s always nice to get encouragement.

Anyone like “Outlander” (books & TV series)? There are knit patterns based on the costumes in the series - I have a pair of fingerless gloves on my “going to be started soon” list.

Prayer shawls/wraps - love making them for folks - it’s a “ministry”.

I’m curious, but probably won’t contribute anything.

I will pass on a separate thread. I have enough to keep up with. I kind of like things he way they are. Gardening does taper off for a lot of us in the winter and the thread is there for canning, sewing, etc. etc. I am onto my 4th project now, putting together 229 yoyos for a table runner.

Wow! Better than I thought. I’ll let this cook for a few days and then we’ll have a test run in the coming weeks.

Feel free to ping your other ‘FRiends’ if you think they’d be interested.

I like to crochet and I can sew a straight line - but I’m not nearly as accomplished as say, my Mom or some of the other Freepers here! ;)

I’ve had the idea percolating in the back of my head, and ‘Q’ brought it back up to the top for me. I think this idea may have started from a thread back in June when the goobers running ‘Ravelry’ decided to insult half of their audience by outing them as Trump Deplorables. *Rolleyes* That thread generated a lot of responses!

(Pinging some Freepers from the other thread; feel free to ignore me, or chime in with your thoughts.)

I have a couple of projects all purchased but yet to be started; maybe this will give me a push.

Add me! I do all kinds of arts and crafts. Sewing too: puppets, quilts, costumes, pillows. I used to do clothing for myself until it got too hard to fit. I also make journals (cloth or paper or canvas or leather covered). Mixed media painting.
