Absolutely debt first. Can’t tell you how much of a relief it was when I paid off the house about 10 years ago.
I had made a bit on a stock and figured it would be a nice Christmas present for my wife....you know she actually got upset at me... she was happy not to have to worry about it anymore, but annoyed that I did it without telling her. sigh...
Congrats on the nice return. I’ll chat with my advisor later this week on the Pension. It’s my decision to make, but always like to get multiple opinions first.
Next two weeks will be interesting for me as there are some work related things going on that will have an impact on the future...ranging from very exciting to very distressing....choppy seas after a few years of glass kinda make it interesting.
:)
LOL. Yes, one does have to have a few discussions now and then. Mostly, Hubby doesn’t like “bookwork”, so it’s mostly on my shoulders. I actually do have a financial background, so it makes sense.
There are times, when I absolutely want to discuss it with him in depth, but I have to explain so much to provide the background, I know his attention wanders. LOL
Still, we don’t make large purchases without discussion with a few exceptions. Like the summer I was attending classes out of town, and Hubby bought a gun.(About 46 yrs, ago)
He was pointing it around in the trailer, and I objected. He said it wasn’t loaded—I said that’s the attitude that makes for accidents. A few minutes later, there was a bullet in the cabinet door—it was loaded. Was his face ever red. LOL
Anyway, that was the final straw. Times were hard then and that was a big amount out of our budget. He had saved all the dishes dirtied for the week—both sinks were full.
So I told him, if we had the money to pay cash for a gun, then we had the money to make payments on a dishwasher, went to the local Montgomery Ward store and bought a portable dishwasher based on delivery that afternoon.
Never had to deal with that amount of mess again. He always discusses now —mostly to know if I will buy something for him—he has a million excuses why he can’t use the internet to order something. LOL
Anyway, good luck with your financial situation.
