My son bought me the multi-DVD set, the James Bond Collection.

We’ve enjoyed watching them.

It’s funny how many Austin Powers/Dr. Evil spoofs we find in all the various Bond films!

I’ll do that when I pass wind in my bubble bath.

My late uncle was a British Master Mariner & Admiralty lawyer working for Lloyd’s Of London. I remember him talking about a weird claim that they contested of a ship being swallowed up by what was assumed to be a whirlpool (at sea? Hmmm....) off of the Aleutian Islands. Ya don’t suppose...

Those bubbles aren’t as big as the ones Michael Moore produces at bathtime...

Methane is a much more potent greenhouse gas than CO2- about 85 times as potent by mass.

>>>I once read a theory that this was what was taking place in the Bermuda Triangle<<<

"As I heard it, a Ship sailing over an area like that would lose Buoyancy and sink."

Gas from methane hydrates on the offshore shelf of the Carolina sea bed are considered a possible explanation.

Somewhere along the Scottish coast is an area called the Witches cauldron, considered a dangerous area by local fishermen.

The sea bottom in this area contains methane producing peats. There would be a sudden large methane release from the peat, resulting something like boiling or seething on the ocean surface. The gas bubbles lowered the weight/mass of water so that any fishing boats at the surface now weighed more than the weight of an equal volume of gas/water beneath it. Boats would sink to the bottom and not be seen again. A hard end in a dangerous job!

Then again, perhaps there is something else going on!

(Seriously....who would give this sort of thing to a child to read!)

Either it is a volcano, or Godzilla ate a Taco Bell.

That was what came to my mind as well.

In the Bermuda Triangle story, they talked about how maybe CO2 gas bubbled up from the seafloor. That since a ship floats on the basis of the weight of the water it displaces being more than the weight of the ship, if the water weights a lot less, because it is full of gas bubbles, the ship will sink like a rock.

I would think that the gas bubbles from a volcano would also be a danger to ships in the area, especially small fishing ships.

While talking a lot about gas bubbles, the story does not even indicate the risk to ships.

You probably know an order of magnitude more about buoyancy than the journalist.

Gonna need a standard for the burritos. I suggest Taco Bell bean burritos since there’s a Taco Bell most places.

I looked for the Witches Cauldron in Wikipedia and it shows only a Scotland inland double waterfall; or a Wales beach, https://www.visitpembrokeshire.com/explore-pembrokeshire/beaches/ceibwr-bay.
Do you remember another gassy cauldron?

another cause of global warming we can do nothing about. I rea last year there are 11,000 active volcanos in the pacific, some small fissures.

Can you imagine the water displacement rushing back to fill that void as well? A ship would drop right down through it, then the walls would slam shut. Horrible way to live your last few seconds on earth...
