"Black Boys With Guns" class teaches gun safety for Minnesota youth

On Sunday, a class was held in Robbinsdale called "Black Boys With Guns."

It's a class aimed at breaking social stigma. The course was created to give youth the opportunity to practice their firearm skills while also discussing gun-involved trauma that may have happened to them or someone they love. It's the second time organizers with "Strong Arm Protection" have lead a program of this kind. The team behind this program believes that educating young black youth will help curb gun violence in the greater Minnesota Community.

This month, more than a dozen minority boys between 12-19 years old went to this range not only to discuss their roles with firearms but also to have a safe space to practice firearms skill.

"My goal is just to get these young people knowing the responsibilities that they have when it comes to these things" said Richard Robinson, Jr., CEO of Strong Arm Protection.

African American male and female pistol instructors also assist in leading discussions with the students on many of the gun violence problems in local neighborhoods. The classes are volunteer-based and also free. Next month young black girls will be invited to participate.

Or not, who cares?

There are plenty of people who do care about such things. And it is always a reliable indicator for caution when a business is organized to cater to racial or ethnic preferences.

Did you suppose that only Whites are capable of racist preferences? So are Blacks, and every other racial or ethnic group. Yes, that matters. It can never be eliminated. The direction of those preferences is what is important.

There is no doubt in my mind that the $100 plus per CPL classes... is nothing but a money making scam by the instructors conducting the classes...

I have had several CPL instructors admit the same thing directly to my face. I have never seen an instructor offer a one-on-one live fire class of any sort for $30.

Pretty much the reason I posted this thread.

I was fortunate, on my first and only renewal of my CPL, I was able to get the instruction from the husband of a woman I used to work with. They lived out in the country and had a shooting range on their property.

I think it was a 6 or 8 hour class which included lunch by Linda, his wife..........

Since then, Michigan didn't require follow up training and I was able to renew the license just as if I was renewing my drivers license......

Like the vast majority of white gun owners, the vast majority of black gun owners in this country are law abiding and keep them for personal protection. If you would like to keep your second amendment rights, trying to limit to one race is folly.

To: When do we get liberated?

You mean like how this group is purposely excluding white people?

I don’t believe that 18 and 19 year olds can buy a handgun. Rifle yes, hand gun, no. Don’t you have to be 21 years old?

My best CPL class was 1 hour of legal instructions, 3 hours of dry-fire (snap cap) training, including several different malfunction drills, break for lunch, and then 4 hours of live-fire practice at an outdoor range in the county. The live-fire drills were of the "practical combat" type at 3-7 yards.

It was about $150 each with a class size of 8 people. Definitely worth the money. Haven't seen a deal like that since.

$1,200 for a day's work..........Not a bad gig if you can get it.

Like I said in a previous post, it's a rip off of legitimate firearm owners whose only wish is to comply with the law........

You know, most gun safety courses are put on by the NRA, but the lefties never mention that fact.

The live-fire practice was high-end skills training. And I have needed to use the experience from the malfunction drills several times IRL. I did not feel ripped off by this class.

To be sure that stuff greatly exceeded the minimum requirements for a CPL in this State. Those minimum requirements amount to attending a rather boring lecture on State laws and taking a short quiz. Don't even need to touch a firearm, let alone do any live-fire work.

I would agree that the minimal qualifications course is a scam.

Just curious, would you feel the same if the renewal of your drivers license required another 6 or 8 hours of training at a cost of $150......?

Competent training is worth paying for.

The reason I was pleased with the class was because it went very far beyond the usual CPL content. It was in fact an advanced combative class and I actually learned a number of useful things I did not know. The CPL certification was mere decoration for me, since I already have one.

The usual CPL class around here goes for about $75 a head. All that is required is a lecture class and a simple written test and that is all most of them deliver. That is a scam in my view.

But then again, I do not believe any permit should be required to carry a weapon in the first place. Everything else is quibbling about the size of the license fee rip-off.

Yeah. It worked so well for Adam Lanza's Mother.

Just sayin'.
